Indus Detroit

Co-Founder and Co-Director of Indus Detroit an Artist Residency and Culture Lab that is part of a network of Muslim-run community organizations in the Dexter Linwood neighborhood of Detroit. The network includes Dream of Detroit sponsoring community-based housing and land development, the Muslim Center mosque and community center (w/ its famous jazz cafe) and the Huda Free Clinic and Community Gardens. The residency program will eventually invite 4 - 6artists each year to live and work in the city of Detroit. Preference is given to artists from diverse and underrepresented backgrounds with a specific focus on artists from South Asia and the Middle East. Indus Detroit will host the first Halal Metropolis exhibiting in June-July 2019, concentrating on the origins of the Muslim community.
